Growing Tips
The Potato Council's expert Dr Rob Clayton has recorded a series of video clips to help you grow the biggest weight of potatoes. These look at the effects of light, air, water, food and temperature on how your potatoes grow, giving valuable advice that could help you win the challenge.
NB: These clips were recorded last year so refer to planting 2 seed potatoes, for this year's project we have increased the number of seed potatoes to 3.
Other top tips.
- When handling potatoes make sure you wear gloves or wash your hands thoroughly
- The more room your plants have to grow the better - so think about this when selecting your bucket. Make sure your container isn't wider than 50cm or else you can't enter the competition
- Finally don't forget to read the factsheet on growing your potato for lots of helpful advice and handy hints
