Friday 4th February – deadline for registering for 2011
Complete the registration form so your school receives its free growing kit in March 2011.

Tuesday 1st March 2011– chit your potatoes
Place your seed potatoes in an open egg box on a windowsill with the sprouts facing upwards for two weeks. 

Tuesday 15th March 2011 – plant your potatoes
Plant your seed potatoes of the same variety in the two grow bags provided. 

Visit the planting potatoes section for more information on planting your potatoes and download the lesson notes and resources to help children learn what a potato plant looks like and how potatoes grow.

15th March to 21st June 2011 – growing your potatoes
There are 12 exciting potato-based lessons designed to support primary school curricula around the UK.  You can use the lesson notes and resources to plan cross-curricular work around the theme of potatoes.  Visit the teacher resource centre to learn more.

In addition there are colouring sheetsvideos and games for the children.

Tuesday 21st June 2011 - harvest your potatoes
Time to see what all your hard work has produced! 

Harvest your grow bags and remember for a chance to win a range of fantastic prizes for your school all you need to do is submit the following in our competition entry formFor the competition rules click here.

Don’t forget to wash first, then weigh in grammes, and don’t forget - you must keep the crops separate.

Prizes
  • Submit the weight of your Rocket crop
  • Submit the weight of your 2nd variety
  • Submit the weight of your largest potato
  • Submit the number of potatoes in a crop from a single variety
